2009-golden-globes

This morning the Hollywood awards season officially kicked off with the announcement of the Golden Globes. The Golden Globes are often a precursor to Oscar, and also bring together the best of film and television. As usual, there were some surprises (Inglourious Basterds) and some snubs (Invictus). Up in the Air lead in nods this year with a total of six nominations, among them best drama and acting nods for George Clooney, Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick. Other drama picks were Avatar, The Hurt Locker and Precious.

Here is Neuro’s list of surprises and snubs. For all the nominees who were snubbed, have a NeuroBliss and remember there is always next year! For the surprise nominees, celebrate with a champagne and NeuroSonic. You will need the energy to get through Awards season!

Surprise: Julia Roberts – Does anyone even remember Duplicity?
Surprise: The Hangover  – We love this surprise!
Surprise: Sandra Bullock, twice. We understand The Blind Side, but The Proposal? Really?
Snub: Jeremy Renner, The Hurt Locker – A remarkable performance by this newcomer
Snub: Lee Daniels. The only director of a nominated film, Precious, not nominated for directing. Huh?
Snub: It’s the supporting characters (Elizabeth Moss, Christina Hendricks) that make Mad Men great.
